Historical Highlights of Hodge First Assembly of God
During the year of 1937, O.J. Neighbors came to Hodge, Louisiana preaching the full gospel, the message of Pentecost. For over a year he conducted services and cottage prayer meetings in homes.
Soon a small group of spirit-filled believers desired a church home, a building in which to worship. Thus it was that land was acquired at the present location and construction began on the first church. With faith, cooperation, and much hard work the building was completed in the summer of 1938.
On July 24, 1938, under the direction of O.J. Neighbors, the group met to formally organize and set the church in order. Bro. Neighbors, who had been the spiritual leader for some time already, was chosen to be the first pastor.
